Why we built it

A lot of people, at 16 and at 40, have no map. Career quizzes feel like tests, job boards assume you already know what you want, and a lot of "guidance" is really marketing. We wanted something calm and honest: no resumes, no applications, no pressure, just steady progress toward knowing what you want to do.

How it works

• A 20-card starter deck of recognizable careers gives Whittle your starting direction.
• Five careers a day after that, mixing strong matches with a few surprises so you don't miss something great.
• Your shortlist narrows to about five careers, with the traits behind each match in plain English.
• Start over anytime. Your old path is kept, so you can see how your thinking changed.

What makes it trustworthy

• Real data, cited. Careers come from the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET database. Colleges, costs, and outcomes come from the U.S. Department of Education. Every page says where its facts came from. See our sources.
• No AI guessing about you. Your recommendations come from a transparent scoring system based on your own choices, not a chatbot.
• Neutral ranking. Colleges can pay to stand out in the directory, but that's always labeled, and it never changes which careers you see or how they rank.
• Privacy first. We ask for your birth year, not your birthday. We never share information about anyone under 18. Read our privacy policy.
