Privacy Policy

Whittle is operated by Simplify It LLC ("we," "us"). Many of our users are students, so we collect as little as we can and we're careful with it. The short version:

• We never sell your personal information.
• We never share anything about users under 18 with colleges, employers, recruiters, or sponsors.
• Colleges only see aggregate numbers (like how many people viewed their page), never who you are.
• You can delete your account and all of your data at any time.

What we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, a password (stored encrypted), your birth year (not your full birthday), and optionally your state.
• Your activity in Whittle: the careers you see, swipe on, save, or open, and the paths you start. This is how Whittle learns what fits you.
• Messages you send us through the contact or college forms.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited, used for security and to keep the site working.

How we use it

• To run your account, build your daily deck, and show your shortlist.
• To improve Whittle, using aggregated and de-identified information.
• To reply to you and send important service emails (like password resets).
• To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.

Colleges

Colleges in our directory may receive aggregate reports, such as impressions, profile views, and clicks by career and region. These never identify you. In the future, adults 18 and older may choose to tap "Request info" on a college profile; only then, and only after you confirm on a clear consent screen, would we share the contact details you choose to send with that one college. Users under 18 can never use this feature.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to host the Service, send email, and measure site usage (for example, Amazon Web Services and Google Analytics). They process data only on our behalf and under confidentiality obligations. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect forms from abuse. We also use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people find and use Whittle (for example, which pages are visited and how many people sign up). Google Analytics sets its own cookies and receives your IP address and browser details. We don't send it your name, email, or anything you swipe or save, and we keep Google's advertising features (Google Signals and ad personalization) turned off. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies.

Your choices

• Start over: archive your current path and begin fresh. Your history is kept so you can look back.
• Delete your account: from your profile, at any time. This permanently removes your account, paths, and activity.
• Access or correct your information: update it in your profile, or contact us.

Age requirement

Whittle is for people 16 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security and retention

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and encrypted passwords. We keep your information while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account, except where we must keep limited records by law.

Changes

If we make significant changes, we'll post them here and, where appropriate, let you know by email.
